Child Care

At the heart of our organization is our childcare program. Since our inception as the Baltimore Pediatric HIV Program in 1998, we have worked to provide childcare and respite to families impacted by HIV in the Baltimore area.

Since then, we have grown and expanded our menu of program services, but never lost sight our first mission to provide exceptional childcare services. Now named LIGHT Rock Child Care Center, our licensed and accredited child care center has more than doubled in capacity and expanded our range of services to provide care for children ages six weeks to 12 years of age.

We now provide childcare and respite to all populations. Our childcare center is open and accepting applications! Contact us and let’s get your little scholar learning.

Our Services:

We provide a holistic, curriculum-based education tailored to each age group and your child’s needs. We offer nutritious and filling meals and snacks.

Our childcare facility has three classrooms, divided by age group to best grow your child’s academic and social skills. We have talented, experienced and credentialed teachers who are certified by the Maryland State Department of Education.

  • Infant Classroom (6 weeks – 18 months): Our infant classroom is optimized for infant care, providing a safe, clean and nurturing environment for your child to grow and learn. The infant classroom offers age appropriate curriculum, interpersonal interactions and family engagement activities that will awaken and promote your child’s motor, sensory, and communication development.
  • Toddler / 2-Year Old Classroom: This classroom learning environment helps to spark natural curiosity and imagination in young students. Major emphasis is placed on the key areas of development for young children, such as social/emotional, cognitive, communication and physical development skills. The students learn familiar routines and initiate social play with adults and other children while also demonstrating their independence.
  • Three & Four Year Old Classroom: This is our preschool preparation classroom that focuses on the expanding the students’ academic, social, and cognitive milestones. This classroom teaches academics that encourages self-confidence and progress according to the child’s needs and abilities. The curriculum includes the daily use of activities including STEM and Arts, language development and problem-solving tasks that helps them achieve age-appropriate milestones. Students are taught how to recognize personal space, sharing and working with others as well as learning polite behavior.
  • Before & Aftercare Classroom: Our classroom is our dedicated space for school age children between the ages of 5-12 years old. The children are assisted with their school assignments as well as our continued learning through our age appropriate lesson plans that focus on STEM, language arts and encouraging of friendships and social play. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our program is also providing full-day school age services with virtual learning assistance.
