Here at LIGHT we strive for greatness in making the world a better place for our children, our future. It’s not easy. If it were, everyone would do it.
What keeps us going? Two really important things. #1. Experiencing, on a daily basis, the transformative changes that we are making in the lives of those we serve. And #2. YOU!
When you donate, serve as a board member, volunteer, show up and read stories to our children – your acts of grace, generosity and kindness sustain us and the families we serve. We remain humbly grateful.
With our 21st Anniversary Gala approaching on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, we hope that we can count on your support.
Last year, our Epic 20th Anniversary Gala was simply AMAZING as we honored some of the unsung heroes who do so much good in Baltimore. The night was filled with testimonials of the wonderful services we provide at LIGHT and how giving and donating actually helps a family, individual, or child. We laughed, danced, and even shed a tear together on this momentous night.
People are still talking about our 2018 Gala and how it was not only great entertainment but left a lasting impact. People who knew little about the wonderful things we do at LIGHT are now some of our greatest supporters. Having a 20 year history, it was humbling to know that LIGHT has helped families break multi-generational poverty by empowering individuals to create opportunities to become change agents and future leaders.

I hope to see you there! Please find me (or I’ll find you!) so that I can personally thank you for your valuable support.
If you cannot be with us on this special occasion please consider making a generous donation on our Gala page.
This Gala is a critical part of our efforts to sustain our work here at LIGHT. Thank you in advance for your support.
Humbly,
LIGHT’S MOTIVATIONAL CORNER

On August 23rd LIGHT Rock Child Care Center had a wonderful day at our local Fire Station Truck #10 Engine 8. We spent the day having lunch with our Baltimore City Mayor, Jack Young and a number of our great Constituents. Our little scholars enjoyed chalk play, sitting on the fire truck, playing with the Orioles Bird, and they were given Back to School treats like Bookbags, pencils, and fun Orioles presents.
We have exciting news to share!!

Seeking a positive role model or mentor for a male youth in your family or village??? Or even an after school tutoring program.. Mentoring Male Teens would love to help you……
Mentoring Male Teens in the Hood
is a group mentoring program serving young men between the ages of 8 and 18 years old, who live in the Baltimore Metropolitan area. The program has been in existence since 1996. Meetings take place the first and third Saturday from 9-2 pm at the New Shiloh Family Life Center on the second floor. The first Saturday focuses on tutoring in Math, English, Reading, and Writing. If that day is not enough, tutoring also takes place on Monday and Tuesday evening from 5:30 pm-8:00 pm at LIGHT located at 2200 N. Monroe Street. On the third Saturday, MMTH introduces the Kings to positive role models from all walks of life and occupations so that they can think early about what they want to do with their lives.
